Ok you pros!
Just bought my new kit and wouldn't mind overclocking it for the flight sims I play seem as though they really need the cpu power.

As its christmas (and I have 2 ahem...) The person willing to help me overclock my rig will get a code for dirt 2 so you can download from steam.
Fair deal!?

I7 @ 2.66
Asus p6t
Corsair 6gb memory
Xfx 5870 xxx
Megahalems cooler with scythe fan
raptors in raid.... And other bits and bobs.

Anybody up for it? :)

Ha! A novel approach :)

A basic algorithm:

Set uncore multi to double ram multi, or slightly over. x16 is a good start. qpi multi to x32. Ram multi to x8. Turn off the various power saving options for now.

Set ram voltage to 1.65V, qpi to 1.25V, vcore to 1.2V. Increase bsck then stability test, again and again until the stability test fails. At this point you may need more vcore, or more qpi, or lower temperatures. Try the first two.

I need to this really, and am gradually making progress with this. I'm tracking my progress here but I can't condense it into an algorithm yet.

Haha i like your approach!!

But as Jon said key is to go in slow increments.

Installing the ASUS TurboV tool allow you to experiment with settings and limits directly in Windows where you will see rather quickly if the settings are pushing it to far.
