Help me overclock my beast!

I've been playing about trying to overclock my machine for the last few hours but I'm stuck now and hoped someone could help me out with it?

I got my CPU to 3420 with 1.3850v and it bascially seems stable (1/2 hr prime).

With my CPU at 3420 I have my mem divider on 1:1.00 so my memory is sitting at ~740Mhz.

I'm thinking of either pushing my CPU to 3600 which would push the ram back to 800mhz and therefore be easier for me as a semi-n00b to deal with or fiddling with the RAM to get it back up to or beyond 800Mhz. With my RAM what would you do?? The RAM is OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK). Yeah 8GB is overkill and possibly slowing my machine down, I thought I might need it for the Photoshop work I do but I think 4gb (as I was advised and went against :o ) would be better.

So, is my RAM going to be a problem, not sure what I should be aiming for. Someone point me in the right direction, please! :)

You have 8gb of ram? or you have 2X 2gb ram? What OS you running as you have to run vista 64 bit for your PC to "see" over 3.5gb of ram

I have 8gb Ram and I'm running Vista X64 normally. Currently I have a single drive in with XP on and some overclocking tools incase I bodge anything.

Well, I'm struggling a bit. System seems stable at 3.4Ghz, (380x9) with rated FSB at 1520. Not sure where to go from here. I tried underclocking my RAM but i'm stuck with it always being around or above 800Mhz so it goes above its rated speed. Dividers just seem to push it up even higher other than 1:1 which keeps it around (under 800).

I get errors above 800Mhz, tried putting a touch more volts through the RAM but didn't seem to do much, still get errors!

Anything wrong with what I now have, are the timings ok (5-5-5-15-2T)?

Any response appreciated! :D

You can up the ram voltage by 0.3v and probably 0.4v, depending on what your motherboard uses as the default. I would be very surprised if you ram can't run at well over 900 with 15-5-5-5.

Ok, If I was to bump up my RAM a touch, do you mean stick it to 2.225v?

Here's what I have right now.

And CPU-Z, not sure why Core Temp reports the wrong Mhz...

What should my next step be now? I'm faffing around at the moment, been at it for hours!
Thanks btw, someone is answering my pleas. :)

After more research I think my real problem is having 8gb of RAM. I might be better off taking 4gb out but I think i'll just have a lower overclock and lump it.

Leaving it at 3.2Ghz and now tightening up the RAM and I think i'll call it a day!

Thanks for the help.
