Hi guys,

4690K seated in a Gigabyte Z97P-D3 with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo cooling it.

Not looking for record breaking numbers :p Just a nice upgrade on what is already a good CPU.

Hi Dimi,

I just finished a project log here on the forum and part of it was overclocking my 4690k.

What would you like help with?

Hey billyk1983,

I just wanted to overclock to around 4-4.2ghz, would setting the multiplier to 40 be fine with everything else on stock (voltage etc).

You should see four Turbo ratios in the advanced frequency section.

Set all four to 40.

If you have a load line calibration option in the voltage section, stick it on turbo/extreme.

Then see if that works, use CPU-Z to confirm core speed when under load.

Could I manage more with those temps and that voltage? Not looking for record breaking numbers or anything just a nice upgrade on what is already a nice CPU.

You could manage 4.5GHz at around 1.26/1.27v. Using an air cooler though willl limit how far you can go.

I've seen users on here posting that they run theirs at 80c. I wouldn't be happy with that myself.

F.A.O. savagesam117, what voltage does your 4.6GHz run at? My 4.7 runs at 1.27v

Try 4.2Ghz.

But also remeber you are now at 4Ghz on all four cores.

If you remember what the turbo values were you would have seen the ratio dropped off as each core was used.

So would have looked perhaps something like,

39
38
38
37

So on a single threaded application the CPU would have hit 3.9GHz, when an application loaded all four cores it would be 3.7Ghz.

At 4.6 Im at 1.25. I could probably lower it too. Max temps of 68/69 in asus real bench on a cheap air cooler :)

Thats pretty good mate. Your low voltage is keeping the temps at bay :)

I saw your sticky about TIM, Pretty good work you put in there. I use MX-4 myself, always have.

Windows experience index stable ? lol I say that as I've had my haswell pass IBT but fail WEI.

Looks like windows experience index is the new stress tester not even joking I run that first if it passes that then I run ibt and asus bench
