Hi guys

Bit of a noob question but can someone give me tips for overclocking my i7 920 cpu? I am fairly comp savvy but feel a bit lost with respects to overclocking my chip

I have the following kit:

Gigabyte GA-EX58-Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - OEM
Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (TR3X6G1600C8D)
Corsair HX 1000W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-1000HXUK)

I want ideally an overclock to say 3.6GHZ - can someone confirm what settings I need to change to achieve this? maybe someone else with the same/similar kit could help :)

Thanks,
Chris

You should find this thread of interest link - and it should help familarise you with the settings and voltages you'll need to identify once you start overclocking. With this extra understanding of you systems BIOS/settings it will make it easier for us to help guide you through the process.

Look at the PDF doc linked to in post#9 of the thread that Plec has recommended - it's Gigabyte's own demonstration of achieving 4GHz using your mobo - they use slightly slower RAM but that shouldn't be a prob when you do the settings, adjust for your memory speed and off you go!
