HI Folks,
Can anyone help me pick a new case ? I am looking for one that has some sort of filtered air intake ( dust bit of a problem in my PC's in the past)
I am budgeting for about 50 - 60 for this case ( hopefully) I would also like the case to be as quiet as possible.
Has anyone got any ideas ?

Thanks

either get the thermaltake soprano, its around that price and has a filtered air intake, which tbh, is bypassed by the air opening at the bottom of the bezel, which opens up inbetween the front fan and the filter  why they totaly negated the filters use, i don't know, or use ladies tights :D as i'm sure a lot of other peeps will be along in a minute to say :p

Lian Li, don't listen to him ^ he has a pony tail. He knows nothing about what cases look good :p Plus the Lian Li will have better build quality.

but i know lian li look poo :D you'll all get over it one day, just a damned lian li fad ;)

Over your budget, but Antec Sonata II works well.

i kave sonata II, you get this really annoying very fine white dust build up round the optical drive bays, and the PSU sucks from my experiance, and airflow isn't superb within the case.

i hate lian li but they are damn good quality...so just get one of them :p

To solve your dust problem install a 120mm fan behind the dust filter to create a positive pressure in the case. Would be interesting to hear your reasoning as to why the PSU sucks though.

No probs - read your other post on PSU thoughts.

should have mentioned on here, but didn't have time to find the thread in which i wrote why the PSU sucks.

and the white dust is easy enough to brush off using a paintbrush, but it's just more effort into somthing i shouldn't really need to do :(

One thing to bare in mind - there’s a lot of alu snobs on here. They wouldn’t be seen dead with anything other than an alu case. I’m not knocking it, self-expression and all that, but there really are better practical choices, especially when it comes to keeping things quiet.

The Antec Solo is such a case. Two methods of hdd damping: Full elastic ring suspension and/or trays c/w silicone grommets. Bomb-proof 1mm steel construction through-out, plus additional acoustic damping sheets on side panels. Superbly slick/sturdy side panel removal/retention. And for those that really can’t bare not keeping up with the neighbours, there’s a front alu trim plate. The dogs danglies.

My old case was pretty good and has a filter for the front intake.

Antec SLK-3700BQE :) (I think it has been superceeded by the SLK3800BUK)

It was pretty silent aswell. I bought it as it was cheap at the time and I didn't want to spend loads on a case I knew I was going to mod.

I also have a Antec SLK-3000B at work which is also nice and quiet.

But I must say the Lian-Li is so much better and amazingly light in comparison.
