Ok im after a 23" 1920 x 1080 monitor with hdmi,2ms, and led back light. This is what I was looking at today.

Syncmaster XL2370 23" lcd led.

anyone know of a better screen or have any advice? Would also like to use my 360 on this aswell as my pc, as gaming on my 42" hdtv is no good for fps games. Thanks.

Far too pricey, and btw get rid of the competitors link ;)

As for recommending a monitor can I suggest you have a sniff around the monitor sub forum.

I've no doubt someone in there will be able to give you sound advice :)

+1 to all of this.

Just to get the ball rolling for the OP - I would suggest looking at this one.

Alternatively, if the OP's budget is around £250 and their PC has a Displayport output - this monitor (and this adapter for connecting a HDMI console) would be excellent.

The two that cmndr_andi suggested are both cracking monitors by all accounts.

For a little more you can get the 120Hz LED backlit Benq, although I'll admit I'm not sure what they're like, would need some research on your behalf.

Is 23" a physical limit? for your price range you can get some pretty good 26-27.5" monitors.

The Hanns G 27.5" monitor has lots of satisfied customers and gives you that extra bit of real estate ie 1920x1200 as opposed to 1920x1080.

In that case you will indeed be able to use the Dell U2311H to connect both the PC and a HDMI games console at the same time via digital connections.

The U2311H uses an E-IPS panel that has a range of benefits over the TN panels used by monitors in this price range and below. The main ones are much wider viewing angles (this video compares the viewing angles of the U2311H's predecessor the 2209WA with a TN samsung), a proper 8 bit panel (unlike the 6 bit + dithering panels used by most TN monitors) and generally better image quality. Here is an in-depth review that fully explores the U2311H.

As coupe69 mentions, given your budget you also have the option to go in two other cool directions - "3D/120Hz" and "bigger".

The 120Hz option is pretty cool, though these monitors only use TN panels the loss in image quality and viewing angles is offset by high responsiveness and smooth motion (when used with the PC), as well as the ability to play games in 3D (if you invest in the correct glasses and software).

As for "bigger", the extra viewable area offered by a 27.5in monitor is considerable. Monitors like this still use TN panels and are not as responsive as 120Hz monitors, but they are fast enough for modern games and the extra size certainly helps with immersion.

Thanks for you help Andi, the size of the screen is a big thing for me, as I cant play online fps games on large screens! I like the image to be small and sharp (problems with my eyes). So I want the monitor to be small but still be able to display 1920 x 1080.

Ah, in that case you may want to have a look at the Dell U2211H. This uses the same panel technology as its bigger brother (E-IPS), performs just as well (if not better), has the same 1920x1080 resolution, but the screen size is only 21.5in.

Here is an in-depth review.
