My dad and I plan to chip in for a new watch for my brothers 21st. Here is what I have narrowed it down to. I really can’t decide, anyone got any opinions? I really liked the limited edition Omega speedmaster but I don’t know if it would look tacky in real life

1 Omega Speedmaster

2 Omega Seamaster

3 Rolex Exp 2

4 Rolex Sub Non date

It's between the 1st and 4th one for me, prefer the look of the 4th but there's no date. The 1st one looks nice, but maybe a bit too busy looking.

I own two of the watches on the list, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph and the Seamaster 300m pro diver aka 'The James Bond watch'.

Mine is the black faced version of the Speedmaster automatic date and is an excellent under-rated watch. The Speedie is a very popular Omega model but the watch fashionista will prefer the NASA certified Speedmaster Professional hand-wound models but I really like the Auto version, need to get mine serviced soon as it is now six years old.

The Seamaster Pro 300m is the original quartz version as worn by Pierce Brosnan in Goldeneye (the auto version was used in The World is not enough), this is my favourite watch of all time and I love it, the model you have listed is the Co-axial automatic version which is superior and more expensive.

Remember buying a high end automatic watch you will have to factor into the purchase servicing costs, these watches need and strip and oil service every 5 years, Omega claim the co-axial movements need a service every 8 years. A good service from an authorised repairer will cost you £120+ and will take serveral weeks. A major rebuild and restore of a watch can reach £1000s.

I love watches and hopefully this year I will get a Officine Panerai marina Automatic 40mm watch, will probably have to part-exchange the Speedie in for it but needs must.....

If he's anything like you, I would just get him one of those LED t-shirts that displays his enormous bank balance, that way no one could possibly misunderstand what he's trying to get across

Actually there would not be much point in that as my accounts are normally empty. How I choose to spend my hard earned money is down to me and me only so you can go **** your self

Thanks for the info and pics Super Tigers and others

I consider this to be a nice elegant watch, and it is definitely on my wish list for this year. Better value than the Rolex and superior calibre than the Rolex.

They all look as boring and un-original as each other tbh.
But each too their own, just pick the one you think looks best.
