Hey guys,

I’m just in the process of going through my old media library and deleting what I don’t need etc. I’ve come across numerous files that just won’t play or some produce an ‘unsupported file type’ message with the default program that loads…

Most of them are mp3/mp4/avi but I’m guessing they might need extra codec’s and whatnot? I haven’t accessed some of these files in over 4 years

I remember a while back I had a bit of freeware that checked your files and told you what program or codec you needed to use the file – its name escapes me though. Anyone got any ideas or any other methods I can try out?

Cheers,

SW.

Try installing CCCP codec pack, it should have all the codecs you need.

Also if you need to, you can use GSpot codec information to open a file and it will tell you what codecs will be needed.
