After my Dad lost his camera in Portugal last month I want to get him another one for Christmas.
He just wants a point and shoot, not a dSLR, however he still wants it to have a viewfinder as well as a screen. I'm finding it very difficult to find one that matches the criteria!

If you guys could help that would be fab, ideally keeping to a budget of £150!

I don't know anything about low end point and shoots. However, I think finding any such camera qwitha usable viewfinder is impossible. If a viewfinder si important then you really have to look a DSLR to get something worthwhile.

There are some digital compact cameras that do come with an optical viewfinder, however your choice would be limited. The following are some compact digital cameras with optical viewfiders:

Canon Powershot A1200
Canon Ixsus 980
Canon Powershot G12
Nikon P7100

The first two are compact cameras, the last two whilst still compacts are more advanced with manual modes, and hotshoes for external flashes etc. I have not used any of these cameras so cannot comment on how good/bad they are.

However only the Canon A1200 would be within your budget I believe, in fact its £80 from the rainforest.

theres been a couple of P&S on the black friday deals this week. surprised you haven't looked to pick up a discounted one on that lot?

Thanks guys, the reason he likes to have a viewfinder is because glare from the sun badly affects his eyesight. Will check out the recommendations from hammer now.
