The time has come for me to bite the bullet and get a new Laptop. I’ve had mine for 8 years now and I’m beginning to get restricted.
The laptop I have still works ok-ish. It’s an HP Envy dv7 Notebook PC. I-7-3610QM , 16gb ram, crappy GPU...
I’ve looked at so many laptops and am worried whether I’m choosing one that is a serious upgrade or not. My budget was around £1000 but I can’t seem to find anything with an I7 processor or 16gb ram for that price with a good GPU.
I have found an Asus Rog Strix G7 which has 16gm ram, an I7 9th gen processor, 512 ssd, 144hz screen, 1660ti GPU. This all seems really good but it is 1400.
It seems as though anything that is I7 automatically goes way up. Finding 16gb ram is impossible too for this price range. They are all i5 8gb ram and 128ssd. Is this a major upgrade to my HP Envy or is it a case of me just upgrading graphics for £1000. I really don’t want to buy something that isn’t going to be a quality product for £1000.
Any suggestions would be great. Should I keep saving and go for the Asus Rog Strix G7 in a few months or is there a laptop that meets my needs for under this?
The HP Envy is 3.2 kg and I notice it. It’s a heavy laptop. Ideally I’d like something lighter.
It runs hot and quite loud but not extremely. Something that isn’t too noisy and doesn’t overheat would be great.
Games I play are: ARPGs, Football Manager, Total war games, Crusader Kings, Age of Empires 4 when it comes out.
Quick processing and loading times would be good especially for FM2020.
I will upload pictures and do some word stuff on it too but that is secondary to gaming
I’d really appreciate any feedback or help. It’s so tough making a decision.
