Been trying all evening to remember a couple of games that I played the demos of over and over and over again back in the late 90s, probably 1999 but could have been 2000.

First one had you flying around a map/level in a ship-type thing collecting coloured spheres which would link in a chain that would be carried from the back of the ship, and you had to fly through a large ring that was in the centre of the map to 'collect' the spheres. I seem to remember that it had an online mode so there'd be quite a few of you all trying to do the same thing, and you could steal spheres from other players and possibly use weapons/powerups. You could go wherever you wanted though, it wasn't a set course like Wipeout.

The second was in space, again you were in a ship and it had you shooting asteroids (possibly for mining purposes) as well as enemies with various weapons, although the main weapon I remember was a rapid-fire type thing with two barrels, one on either side of the viewpoint. Vague as it gets I know, but that's all I can really recall.

Any ideas at all? I imagine they were on a PC Magazine demo disc because my step-dad used to be subscribed to it at the time.

Edit: I think the first one had 'ball' in the name somewhere.

No matches yet guys, but thanks. It's rather frustrating, I must have played them over and over and over and yet I can't quite picture the names in my head...

Still struggling with this. so annoying. The first one definitely had the word 'ball' in the name, I'm almost positive. Yet a search on GameFAQs doesn't seem to bring it up...

Edit: Clusterball! Turns out it's even available for iOS.

Now to find the other one...
