Hi all

My 2008 Mercades CLK requires a battery change. Iv been told my Mercades assistance that the model number is: A0009823308 and I should look for one that has an output of 760 amp CCA and output of 100 amps per hour.

He offered me a 'Mercades original' for £155 but also told me, honestly, if it was his car, he would buy a cheaper one online.

Iv found all these. Which one do you guys think I should go for?

Bosch S5 is a good choice with 5 year warranty. I have 3 of them and they're reliable from my experience. Like tyres, I wouldn't scrimp on a battery....

Sorry I dont know anything about this stuff. Could you please link me to a Bosch battery that will be right for my car based on the info in the first post? Thanks

Whats the difference between the Bosche and this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exide-Pr...467845?hash=item2f1daef3c5:g:bSIAAOSwOZtbPjBp

My understanding is that Exide is also a decent brand, no?

Is there a difference in 'strength'. Please excuse the simple questions I dont know anything about car batteries hence the thread post. Dont want to make a silly mistake.

Probably is, the Bosch has an extra year of warranty 5 vs 4, and likely is better quality...as I say, I have 3 of them and they've all been fine (including having to multiple charge one as the car it's on is off road).

Yuasa, Exide or Bosch are all good manufacturers. as already discussed they'll have varying duration of warranty. Just make sure you're buying a genuine battery, they're a lot of fakes on places like ebay which may leave you disappointed.

The cold cracking ampage (CCA) and capacity (amp hours) are minimum values, anything greater than 760CCA and 100Ah will be sufficient so long as it physically fits your car. You will notice the physical will increase slightly as capacity increases, so just something to consider.

I like MDS Battery suppliers, see below for Yuasa examples:
https://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/yuasa-ybx5019-silver-12v-019-car-battery.html for non stop-start cars.
https://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/yuasa-ybx7019-12v-stop-start-car-battery.html if your car is stop-start.

To be honest, the Mercedes price of £150 is not bad if you're not confident with fitting it yourself. However, battery replacements are easy and I doubt your 2008 car requires the car to be programmed to avoid overcharging the new battery like more modern cars do.

My car is non stop-start. That tech wasnt around in 2008 Mercs.

The Yuasa battery you have linked for the non stop start car above, is that appropriate for my car? Is this Yuasa battery better than the Exide one on ebay that I posted further up? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exide-Pr...467845?hash=item2f1daef3c5:g:bSIAAOSwOZtbPjBp

Mercades assist said they will fit it for me even if I buy it online FOC...

they’re identical in terms of specification, it just depends on who you want to buy from. I can vouch for MDS, I’ve had several car and motorcycle batteries from them and they’re genuine products.

As for your question to bledd, yes they’re the same battery.

It's also worth checking Euro car parts and GSF, sometimes they have good sales on. GSF had 60% off yesterday. Just enter your reg and it will show you the batteries they have.

My battery is also bad, car will be 3 years old at the end of the month, hoping I can get it done under warranty. Not that I will be paying, saves the company money though.

I work for Eurocarparts.

As a sales advisor, would recommend either an exide battery (3 yrs warranty), or varta blue (4 years warranty, and is also OE)

Hope that helps :)
