Help me setup VLC remote

Hello,

I am happily using VLC ( 2.0.5) on my pc.
I want to enable the http interface ( or, more precisely, be able to use the android app ''remote for VLC'').
I cannot get the server running, can you take a look at my config:

How do I set this up, I really want to be able to use my phone and tablet as a remote for VLC...

I get no response from my android devices on 192.168.178.11:8082
I get no response from browser on localhost:8082

Other http services ( like apache on 8080, or utorrent web interface on 8081 ) work fine both from my own pc or from my android devices.

You'll need to uncomment at least one of the commented lines.

For internal use on your LAN, I'd uncomment line 18 by removing the #

Tried that, nothing.

Uncommented the last 2 lines too (22 and 23), still nothing!

The android app ''remote for vlc'' reports something on port 8080 when it scans my network, but when I try connecting to that, nothing happens. atm my Apache server on 8080 is down, but VLC remote still doesn't work on 8080 or 8082...

Somehow got it working now by changing the port to 8080 in the VLC options. Thanks!

I can't get it to work on 8082 though. Any ideas ? Ideally I'd want 8080 free for apache when I need to use it for simulating websites...

could it be as simple as the firewall has not had that port openend?
