Unfortunately new G-Sync monitors cost way above the £300 budget, so can't consider them.
But here are some good FreeSync monitors (and a used G-Sync) with strobing backlights:
My basket at Overclockers UK:
- 1 x LG 24GM79G 24" 1920x1080 TN 1ms 144Hz Freesync Widescreen LED Gaming Monitor= £219.95
- 1 x Samsung C24FG73 24" 1920x1080 VA FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Quantum DOT Widescreen Curved Monitor= £269.99
- 1 x **B Grade** Acer Predator XB241Hbmipr 24" 1920x1080 TN G-Sync 180Hz 3D Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor= £278.99
The Samsung has better colour accuracy and contrast levels than the other two. The LG and Acer produce similar looking images overall.
The G-Sync monitor is B-grade and doesn't specifically mention what is wrong with the item (apart from the generic B-grade description) so it could be a gamble. You could ring up customer support to see if they can tell you more info.
Anyway, G-Sync would eliminate screen tearing and this monitor has a slightly higher refresh rate than the other two.
Thanks - would you recommend the b grade predator over a Samsung chg70?
The CHG70 will create much better looking images (and deeper blacks) than the Acer, but it doesn't have G-Sync. It's also way over budget from what I can find.
What matters more to you - colours and contrast levels (CHG70) or G-Sync and a higher refresh rate (Acer)?
Also, you would struggle to run games at high frame-rates at 1440p with a GTX 970. 1080p is more easy to run for your GPU.
The Samsung C27HG70 and C32HG70 are two 27inch/32inch 1440p 144hz FreeSync monitors.
Do you mean the C24FG73? If so, yeah that 1080p monitor is in budget and has a refresh rate of 144hz with FreeSync. But it wouldn't eliminate tearing for you, as you have a Nvidia card but can only use FreeSync with an AMD card.
ah ok yes I was meaning the c24hg70 (24”)
I’m mega confused now but that predator is looking good hmmmmmmm[/QUOTE
Ok I went with the Samsung - reviews for it suggest its brilliant and perfect at 1080p and 144hz. Can’t wait to try it
When does it arrive?
