Hello everyone - I am looking for a new monitor. I broke my ankle at the weekend and am thinking retail therapy is the way forward :)

The other part is that I have an old 27" monitor that just doesnt cut it for gaming, so do want to upgrade to a 1440 ultra wide, preferably 34" or so. the GPU is a 1080 so should be good to power it.

Any good recommendations for both Gsync, gaming and good colour / contrast rendition for photo editiing?

AAnd I suppose, I am happy to wait if anyone thinks a new stellar monitor is due next month or so.

Really apprecaite your guidance

I've been looking at ultrawide monitors as I'm considering getting. Considering the Acer Predator X34A.
Should be good for photo editing as well (I haven't read reviews on that part of it)
I like it as it is also 100Hz

Well i own the X34A and its been an awesome monitor.

Playing games on it is amazing but it also works great for everything else i do.

If you want gsync I think definitely the X34a (purely as it is cheaper than the Asus competitor). Reason being that the VA competitors either do not have gysnc, or if they do they do not have the quantom dots which the Samsung has, which you want for the colours.

I choose to give up gsync and got the CF791.

Thanks guys. The Samsung.... Love the look of it. Does freesync work with nvidia cards?

The x34a does seem to fit the bill though.

Unfortunately not, would check what FPS a 1080 gets at that resolution in the games you buy to see if it dips below 100, if it doesn't, not really an issue I think. 1080ti never noticed tearing

Well, she turned up a day late (thanks rainforest courier of useless - could have bought it here as i only bought it from rainforest for a quicker delivery) Unpacked and on desk. Pics to come later.

Early indications are wow!!! Lovely screen. No dead pixels and a small amount of bleed in each corner. But this is only noticeable on the black start up screen. I may also be sitting too close which makes that bleed a bit more visible. Need a bigger desk!!

But, and it is a very important but, this screen is awesome and I am delighted I bought it.
