OK,

So I've got a perfect (ish) kubuntu install on my laptop and server with the intent of converting my desktop too. However, there are little things that make me want to switch back to windows

I miss, for example, decent webcam support and I am concerned that the SPDIF out on my desktop won't work properly with the AMP I'm getting in a couple of weeks.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy trying to make things work, but the convenience of windows is something I think I've been taking for granted.

Please convince me to stay with linux!!!!

Well I love the whole Idea behind Linux and everything. But for my main Desktop use it just isnt up for it. It doesnt properly make use of my hardware, things such as webcams take much longer to get working, not fully compatiable with all the stuff I get from school and runs slower due to different code types used in the programs.

Having said that I still have Linux installed on two of my other machines. Since it is reliable, stable and looks better.

Windows is like wiping your bum with rough toilet paper. Linux is like wiping your bum with a pine cone, since then I have become used to the sweet smelling scent. :P

Linux should be installed on a hobby machine unless you are really a Linux junkie/very familiar. You can however, dual boot. Linux uses very little space over it's various partitions. Many people try and go cold turkey from Windows and end up crawling back, like me. I love the ethos and everything about Linux except the learning curve. Don't be ashamed of still needing Windows XP. It is better for many things too. :p Really it is.

I went cold turkey about a month and a half ago. Im sold! Never turning back to windows (apart from the odd WoW stint, but even that runs on Linux). I must say everything about linux rocks, even though it takes a while to get some things set up, but the effort is so worth it when you finally get it working.
