Help me touch my toes

I know this sounds a odd request but i want to be more suple and flexible.
I used to be quite fit, but now i dont play footy or rugby anymore. Im medium height and 11 stone, not to much fat on me. Anyways i play a lot of golf, i dont get back ache as such just the feeling that i need to stretch a lot i noticed the other day i tried touching my toes and the lowes i can get my finger tips is halfway between my knee and anckle this cant be right.

Does anyone have any excersices to help me do this and help with my back. or waht kind of things should i be looking for
 
I can touch the floor with my knuckles(fist) whereas my skinny lanky friend cannot even touch his toes.... I am 14 stone, tubby.
I remember in middle school when we did excerise in P.E. a lot of my friends were "owww the pain" & "thats as far as I can go" etc - this was not really hard for me tbh. I know everyone is different but I'm still :confused: ...if I'm honest.
I'm not bragging about it. I'm just proud I can do it LOL
 
Another suggestion is to take up yoga :)

I've been doing Hatha Yoga for a lil while now and it's made me very flexible :)

I've been doing body balance (mixture of tai chi/yoga/pilates) classes at the gym for about 3-4 months now and it's helped massively with my flexibility. I can get my chest flat onto my legs when bending over and easily get my palms flat on the floor now. I need to keep working on my hamstrings as they're still a lot tighter than I'd like however I have to say that it's made a huge difference. My core strength is better, my flexibility is better, my balance is better and my lower back problem that I was suffering from is now totally gone.

If you can get over the fact that you probably are gonna look a bit gay in the class then I'd definitely recommend it.

my gym runs a similar class but im really worried about going. but it would help my ju jitsu so much if i went! good damn ego! how many blokes in your class?

I've always wondered this as well actually. Since bulking my muscles have gotten so tight (really from not stretching after a lifting session I'd guess) that my range is nothing compared to what it was before I start, and even then it was bad!

I do yoga too, there's more blokes in that class but I personally don't find it as good as the bodybalance class (although I guess it all helps)
 

Don't think i've ever seen Arnie specifically touch his toes but there's plenty of pictures and vids of him bent over rowing or curling that indicate he's got plenty of flexibility in his legs and lower back.

Flex Wheeler in the early nineties and more recently Ronnie Coleman are both famous for doing the splits on stage while posing. Stick either name in google to get an idea of how big these boys are.
 
OP, its possible, i finally touched my toes today.. not at the same time but i still managed it, i really pushed hard and stretched well though, 20mins later im nowhere near them again :D
