Damn it probably has some sort of magic dust inside, cuz is so rare and hard to find. Probably made somewhere in the magic elven woods or something...

Looking for new Bosch relay # 0 281 003 009. Its a blasted 12v preheat relay for my 306. Manual bypass around that relay didnt work out as well as i expected. Car developed some serious ghosts in form of quantum start. It sort of works, but then it doesnt... Had to pull start it several times while away from home. Good thing friends were nearby with their car to help us...

Its nearly impossible to get this relay even at car breakers... found one shop that sells it for 60 quid, but looking for some more shops.

I'm getting seriously ****** at Pug, and my next car most likely wont be a peugeot...

Have you tried a Peugeot dealer?

Or are you trying to avoid them due to prices?

Some bits unfortunately you cannot do that. I just had to replace the power steering ram on my 306 Gti-6 and as it is different from every other 306 steering ram (which are the same) I ended up having to go to peugeot who made my wallet £125 lighter :(

I have just been on the German Swedish and French site and they have a Glow Plug Relay for both the D and TD 306.

Number N93602 for the D priced @ £43.50

Number N93608 for the TD priced @ £56.00

Think those prices are before VAT too.

Its a 1.9D of 1998.

Peugeot dealers are a rip-off (as per usual). Asked for the part and was hit with 50 quid diagnostics fee and asked for 95 for a relay, so told them to *bleep* off...

Original part was of Bosch make so i figured there bound to be some shops that sell them independently.

Car breakers useless - either no guarantees it is working (as expected), obviously damaged, or way overpriced (or all of the above in one case...)

Makes me want to buy an old banger, pre loads-of-electronics, so only mechanical parts would be a failure factor... why the *bleep* do you need a relay, that has a mind of its own to start an engine ?

You won't get a car with more simple mechanicals that a 306 with an XUD 1.9D unless you go for something at least 20+ years old.

The relay controls the glow plugs for cold starting, and you'll struggle to start an old diesel without glow plugs. The relays carrys a big current so it's not really a surprise they don't last forever. The alternative is to have a heat position on the ignition switch like old tractors and leave that on for about 30 seconds before you start it. I'd prefer a £60 relay to do the job myself.

They cannot charge you for a diagnostics if you dont ask for one though?

You can just buy the part, but at that price I'd be looking elsewhere to.

Like I said I had to get my steering ram there but they wanted about £120 for a Lamda sensor. I ended up sourcing exactly the same Bosch one from Camberley Autofactors for £55 :D

If it were me I would take a chance on that Rover one I posted up. It has the same part number so that to me says it would be ok (if the part number you have is correct) if it isn't right then you can always send it back, but if it is right you have yourself a bargain!
