This has been ongoing, and intermittent for some time - and I'm not sure whats to blame.

Initially, I think my PSU in my old case went faulty - PC would crash randomly, often under load, but not always. When running on a test PSU the same errors didnt happen, so I got a new case and PSU.

Now, I have an issue whereby my PC wont boot unless I put both my RAM slots into 2 of the non-Dual channel slots in the motherboard, and only 1 set of the 2 double 'sets' works.

Is it likely to be a faulty motherboard? Faulty RAM?

Seems to be affecting gaming, as the RAM isnt passing textures to my new 460 fast enough as far as I can tell. :( Sad panda.

Use memtest86+ to verify the memory is operative. Try using one memory stick at a time and try the single sticks in different slots. If one stick of memory fails in all slots, then its almost certainly a RAM problem. If the working RAM stick works in one slot but not another, then this is certainly going to be a memory controller problem which is located on the motherboard for C2D.

Check that the memory is set correctly i.e. Frequency, VDIMM and latency timings. Check the manufacturers website for details.
