Hey,
So, Im planning on upgrading my PC for a while now and with new GTX 1070, I decided to do it now. Mostly for high-end gaming

I hope you guys can help me :)

Budget (incl. card) up to £1000 (the cheaper the better)
I have monitor, keyboard, mouse, hdd / ssd + whatever I use now (see list below)

GeForce GTX 760
16GB RAM DDR3 4GB (Corsair)
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
Inter i5-2400 @ 3.10GHz

Could use a new case as well :)

Thanks

What psu? And what speed is the ram rated at?

What you have now could be improved a lot by swapping out the cpu with a I5 or i7 k and overclocking. The best option being the 3770k.

Don't forget that you can overclock the i5 2400. You should be able to increase the multiplier by an extra 4 bins, which gives an extra 400mhz on to all turbo speeds.

You may also be able to raise your base clock up to around 105mhz, which will grant a little bit more performance on top of that.

PSU is Corsair TX850

RAM speed according to CPU-Z is 667MHz (Dual so 1334MHz)

With my current set-up I'm not able to play most games on High Settings (not to mention maximum)

Let's leave £350 budget for the 1070 itself (assuming worst case with pricing), here's the rest if you completely upgrade everything.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £517.06
(includes shipping: £13.20)

With this you still have plenty of budget for a different case and maybe another hard drive or 2 if you need it. A grand is... too much budget. You could probably just get the GPU and a great monitor for that, instead of everything I've suggested though.

The CPU is significantly better, but you could instead upgrade to an i7 on your current chipset and save a bit, more on that idea in a sec. I've included a decent air cooler for either overclocking a bit or just reducing noise. There's 2 sticks of DDR4 RAM for 16GB total, I don't see how you'd need more than 16GB, but if you ever wished to increase RAM, the option is there. A good 550W PSU is an optional upgrade, since Pascal uses less power than Maxwell and the Skylake has improved power efficiency I believe. Don't skimp on PSU and get a cheap one or you may be in for an 'explosive' surprise XD If your current PSU is quite old, I'd replace it just to be safe.

The case, you can choose other options, take a look yourself. I know that NZXT makes cases pleasant to build in, so I've just suggested it as a recommendation.

The alternate option would be to keep your motherboard and get an Ivybridge i7, unfortunately since they are older CPUs they are harder to find (OCUK doesn't list them). Broadwell/Haswell/Devil's Canyon won't work on a Z68 motherboard. But you'd quite possibly get better bang for buck by upgrading to skylake.

Let me know if there's anything else you need.

Looks Great! Just wonder if this will allow me to play games like Witcher 3 on high settings with 60 FPS??

Thanks ^ ^

Oh for sure. With a 1070, you should be able to max settings and you'll probably get more than 60fps lol.
