Right currently have socket 478 P4 2.66 @ 2.90 / 533FSB...

I am looking to pick up a HT chip, now for socket 478 on 533 these things are going for nearly a ton which is a bit steep considering I picked this one up for £35.

Would I be better moving up to socket 478 800Mhz or a different packaging ie 775?

Don't want to change the system too much at once, need to keep in consideration my wallat! :p
 
Due to the prices that Socket 478 chips are currently fetching and the fact that you won't notice much of an improvement I'd personally save your money and get a cheap Conroe setup. Even the 1.83GHz chip will be faster than your current P4 :)
