It's over 500 but you should get some money back selling off your current cpu/ram/mobo/gfx.
 
My plan was mayb to just stick new cpu in current board, new psu and case and mayb few other things as i dont play much higher things but would like an upgrade.
 
then probably just an e8400 (even better if you can source a 2nd hand one) with the corsair hx520 and antec 300 from above. as for gfx what sort of games do you play and at what res? if it's just the occasional games then the 8800gt can probably hold out a bit longer still.
