OK do have a 6950 (2 GB) atm but may well be selling on to a mate in need of a cheap build. That and the good ol' student loans company are refunding me £500

So looking for a new graphics card and can't decide which!! No plans for multi- screen just now (currently run a 23" samsung just now) BUT would be nice to future proof just now.

So, do I go for 7970? Or a 680 (but 2GB, the 4GB seems out of budget tbh) or OC a 670 with the 4GB???

Thanks muchly!

If you want to go for a 7970, and you're happy with reference (same as your choice) then get http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-144-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938

Or wait until a Lightning or similar is on special offer. Imo, the 7970 Direct CUII which is the cheapest on OcUK has locked voltage, so *could* limit the overclocking ability, some are stable at 1100mhz and some 1200mhz, so would be down to the silicon lottery. However, at 1100mhz it would happily play all current games at their max settings.

If the prices of the 6** Nvidia cards was lower then I would recommend a 680, as the 670 is a mid range card with a high end price tag imo.

I wanted a new card myself, considered 6x0 and 79x0 series and i was screaming about EVGA 680 and then I sat back and thought about it, and the prices put me off a little, i have a 6950 2gb ICEQ and got a 2nd brand new for £130, popped in my rig this morning and im pleased as punch, BF3 on ultra bouncing around 75 fps. Im skipping this Gen of cards for now, until something more gpu intensive than BF3 comes along.

CrossFire is the cheapest route to go, pretty mature/stable/good performance to boot while giving =performance with 7970/680.

Sapphire dual fan edition on today only for £150 with free next day delivery using the voucher code(which works with any purchase over £50).

Use the rest of your cash to become very:confused:! :D

Failing not wanting/cba to go down the route of CrossFire, the custom cooled KFA2 at £330 opethdisciple's talking about is the way to go.

Although opethdisciple, imo the 680 v 7970 both balls to the wall has nothing in it tbh, some you win, some you lose, but saying that I'd take the easy option and go with the 680 IF they were priced the same.

Good replies cheers
Selling the 6950 to a mate so why the new card and why I'm not x-firing it (aside from the fact its huge!!!!!)
@opethdisciple the top link is 760, windforce one...
Unless EVGA stock comes in I'll prob go for the MSI 7970 (plus its reference for future watercooling!)
