Morning everyone,

Ive got an issue with my new build well at least i think i do not sure..
Anyway my issue is the led on my motherboard slowly flashes like Every 2-3seconds funny thing is the system works perfectly fine i also checked the voltages cause i thought it was a voltage issue and those are fine too...
Only way i can make the led flash stop is if i take out my ram stick(only got 1 atm Its a budget build)
But the ram works fine i dont get it..
All the parts are brand new btw

The specs are
AMD Ryzen 5 1500x
ASUS Prime a320m-k
Antec VP 400watt psu
4GB Crucial ddr4

Those are all the brand new parts i also use my brothers old vid card and HDD but they work fine they just old
The vid card is a GeForce 650 GT
And 500gb SATA HDD.

I read online that flashing means something bad but like i said i can only make the led stop flashing if i take out my ram but the ram and system.works fine so im not sure what to do now...
Help?

Also im planning on upgrading my pc slowly this is just a budget/start So Its not like a gaming beast or anything

Edit:forgot to mention that it keeps flashing even after i shutdown the pc hmm weird and only does this when i use my ram if i power it on without any ram the led is then solid..
But i have no issues..

Hi marlon. Is it definitely an led or is it lighting on your audio traces(apparently that board has them and fooled someone else on line)? I looked in your mb manual and couldn't find anything about diagnostic led. Check in your bios for some sort of lighting control.

Ok but im afraid to turn it on i checked the supported ram for my motherboard and i cant even find my chip there...
I have a Crucial 4gb ddr4 CT4G4DFS824A
But when i check the supported ram on my motherboard i cant even find CT4G4DFS824A
On the list... Also the led is solid once i take the chip out but can you check for me to see if this ram even works? if it works then ill try the lighting bios thing because right now to scared to turn it on ha

Oh also it keeps flashing even after Its powered off

what speed ram have you got and why only 4gb and not minimum 8gb ? have you updated to latest bios ? are you running windows 10 64 bit ?
have you tried the ram in different slots ?

its either going to be the ram or mobo fault it is a process off elimination, if you have brought all from same company, speak to them and ask advice too.

i've just had little check and according to crucial that ram is compatible with your board, but end off day there must be a problem somewhere.

Wonder if the led is just indicating a empty slot?

Not sure if the bios does this, but it could be alternating checking the slots. As in check slot 1 - RAM detected - led goes out, check slot 2 - no RAM detected - led on.

Hope this makes sense.

Well i think Its normal because i for fun checked my motherboard on YouTube and i Saw another guy who had the same board and when his pc was on his led did the same exact thing i assume Its there for the show?
I can grab the link in a sec to show you what i mean

Heres the link well i guess Its normal i suppose
Thanks God because i rebuild the thing at least 3x all for nothing haha anyways Its working here is the link https://youtu.be/mvbE5-DOYy8
Its not the exact same model number but Its pretty close and his led lights does the same exact thing in his Asus 350 i got a 320 so i guess Its normal then? Scared me heh i thought my psu was reseting over and over cause i read that online that it soposed to be solid green

I think you are right because i checked it on YouTube a dude with same board his led does the same lol and i rebuild it like 3x for nothing what a waste of time lol at least Its working nu next step is to get windows 10 i dont have a dvd drive but can you put it on a USB? Make it bootable? I see that Microsoft had a free version of Windows 10 to use for now..

I found solution apperently Its normal but yeah reason i only got 4gb DDR 4 is because Its all i can afford..
I was planning on upgrading Its to 8gb within a week or 2 tho so it Will be 8 Just not right at this second..
I plan to put parts into like each month or so untill i do have a game machine Its just i only had a budget of 400 at the time next week ill have another 60 to spend on like ram or something..then a Month later ill prob get a GeForce 1050 etc..

Also where did you find on Crucial that Its compitable i couldnt find it lol but anyways good to know that Its fine was almost gonna send it back

Well new issue now i grabbed the free version of Windows 10 ISO at microsoft.com Its a legit copy u can use it without a key was planning on getting that soon but now everytime i try to install i get error code 0x80070570 :(
Plz help man in stuck now cant use it
Its a legit copy :/ also my HDD is old prob like 5 years but i didnt have problems with it in other machine it was in but i never tried win 10 on it is it cause of that? Its a old master 160gb SATA lol

You will need a working computer to build a bootable USB installer for your Windows 10 ISO(impo, forgot the MS USB tool and Google for "Rufus" instead), else you'll need a Windows install CD/DVD(and an optical drive to read it from) to use with the new PC.

If your existing HDD has an existing install of windows install on it, it won't necessarily boot after a hardware change, nor should you ideally attempt to(the install will attempt to load driver software for your old and differing hardware). Typical install procedure for a new build is to format the HDD with the existing OS(Windows) install(presumably the 160GB drive you mentioned), then instruct/config the motherboard to boot from the installation drive(be it a DVD drive or USB stick, media permitting), and run the installation process when it boots from the selected device.

In regard to your earlier mentioned issue, just sounds like normal operation LEDs to me, like you seem to have concluded already, just adding a FWIW.

Hi marlon

Was it a 64 bit version off windows ? 2nd to do the fresh install the old hd will need be formatted, 3rd a 5 year old 160gb hard drive, personally I would be changing now as it will be very old tech now, 4th are you booting into the usb by selecting it, cause you might be able to format that way as there is usually an option in there on load up ? 5th if all else fails and your on Windows 7 64 bit speak to Microsoft live chat and they can upgrade you free by taking control off your comp, as I recently did this on a friends laptop.

Otherwise try t31os suggestions as they are also good points.

Good luck with it

Thing is i formattered the drive and Its win 10 64bit also i dont think Microsoft van take control as there is nothing on the HDD i can only see bios and if i install win 10 i get errors..
Also sometimes It freezes during the installation instead of an error it has to be the HDD? Its also 5 years old maybe its failing?

Is the mouse unresponsive during the freezes? Yes? Possibly a HDD issue(testing another is really the only way to rule this out), unplugging and reconnecting wires(and testing another sata cable) wouldn't hurt, just to cover your bases though. No? Probably just the installer taking it's time or the optical drive having some issues reading the disc(irrelevant if you're doing a USB stick install however, which should be a 5 min job).

What errors were you seeing? Write them down on a piece of paper(so you can post them here and/or google them) if you run through the install process and have errors again.
