Hii guys,

Im gonna buy a new custom gaming pc within this month and my budget is around $3500-$4000.

I will tell you my configuration later before that i have some questions and assumptions for you plz answer them.

1. Initially i thought i will be getting i7-3930k but i7-3770k seems impressive in benchmarks and in gaming it seems that 3770k is slightly faster than 3930k and i feel that by the time games utilize 6 cores 8 core processor might be on the market (this is just my assumption). Unless and untill 6 core processor becomes mainstream (which is not gonna happen anytime soon) game devs wont utilize 6 cores. (correct me if iam wrong)

2. I was intially planning to get creative soundblaster recon3d Fatal1ty pro soundcard but when asus maximus v formula (which im gonna get for i7 3770k) comes with SupremeFX IV which makes me think that should i get an additional soundcard for $150 or save it ?, How does supremeFX audio compares to creative soundblaster ? is it worth additional money ?

3. My third Query is regarding regarding monitor. Im either planning to get Dell U3011 (1600p) monitor or Asus VG278H monitor. The advantage i have with u3011 is its 1600p resolution, accurate & vibrant colors . The advantage i have with asus vg278h is its 3d, 120hz and 2ms input lag. I would love to see 1600p monitors with less input lag and 120hz (im least bothered about 3d). I will be mostly playing bf3, cod, skyrim, max payne 3, tf2, wow, sc2 on my pc. I actually feel that 1080p is pathetic for 27" screen. Though i definetly like u3011 than asus, im scared that 7ms gtg and 60hz might be slow on fps games . So what's your take on this ? what monitor do u recommend me ? And on what monitor do u use to game on ? Also is 3d really worth it or its just a gimmick ?

4. If im Going with Dell U3011 i will be getting either EVGA GTX 670 4gb SC+ sli or EVGA GTX 690 ? and if im going with Asus VG278H i will be getting either EVGA Gtx 680 2gb or Gtx 680 4gb ? Is 2gb vram sufficient on 1080p 3d and 1600p or 4gb is a way to go ? Is 2gb vram future proof for another 2-3 years ? please dont tell me to scale down AA because i dont want to do that after a GPU for $500 and above.

So what's your take on this.

I was about to buy a pc 3 months ago itself but due to some problems it has been delayed. My dad said he will be gifting gaming pc for my 18th B'Day (Sept 1).

Thanks in advance for your info .

I can't comment on all the issues you have here but i'll give you my two cents, in reply to number three you should have a look at the BenQ monitors. They're high quality and seem to be reliable according to other users.

In regards to number four do you really want to be spending hundreds more on a card that is only 10 percent better than its predecessor or buy two cards in SLI which are going to more than surpass the 690 and still probably save you some money.

In all honesty I'd look at a decent gtx 670 perhaps something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-031-KF&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2294
and then go and grab another one when it comes down a little in price. From memory I believe people have complained about KFA2 being a tiny bit noisey?

1. If you are just mostly gaming the 3770k is perfect. The 3930k is only needed for high-end video editing/CAD rigs which will use more than 4 cores/8 threads. Gaming won't come anywhere near that in a long while. The 3770k is more than enough.

2. I would say the soundblaster would be better but i doubt you'd be able to tell the difference, I have heard good things about the Supreme FX (no first hand experience though).

3. I don't know that much about monitor, so... PASS! (my choice would be 120hz 1080p)

4. Get a GTX 680 4GB. :)

I have the U3011. It is majestic, the best monitor I have ever had. I have never felt that its response time or refresh rate was lacking, although I haven't played games on a 120HZ monitor so maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

My only complaint is it is damn hot!! It's like a radiator, which over the last few days especially, hasn't been too great!

It doesn't help that I have a U2711 next to it either.

Still, I can't think of a monitor I would swap it for.

I power them with a 5970, however I am thinking of swapping for a GTX680 or 2 even though it is completely unnecessary.
