Ok I have 3 PCs in the house my desktop a netbook and laptop and all seem to have various photos songs and videos on them none of which I would like to lose.

My wife is getting annoyed as the contacts she has on her laptop aren't on my netbook or desktop. Infact I'm in a right mess when it comes to how to deal with all this as I have bookmarks spread across all three comps and even different browsers (wife still uses IE and I use firefox)

Obviously given the location of 3 PCs I'll need an external storage devices so I welcome advice on which one to get I wouldn't mind if I could have one which also can combine as a movie player as well?

2nd question is how to do the backups and to sync across 3 PCs?

I've tried googling this and whilst there are several guides none are really layman clear and most are offering to sell something, but I perfer the OCUK recommended seal of approval before I buy.

Someone else might be able to help with syncing the contacts up, but you could certainly stick another HDD in your desktop to back up all your data and create a homegroup with windows 7 so everyone can access that data from all the computers. I know you can import bookmarks from firefox to IE and vice versa (organise bookmarks, import/export) so try checking that out.

thanks Devrij,

I have tried that but it's painfully slow across wifi to transfer all the photos etc from the laptop and netbook and sure as damnit there will be something I forgot to transfer it happened the last time I formatted I managed to lose my wife's contacts and favorites...

Ah well I came and asked I'll do some more research into software and external drives.
