At present I have a A64 3200 on a nforce4 board 939 socket, is it worth upgrading to a X2 4600 or should I wait and upgrade the whole lot to c2d?

This decision is being pressurised by my father wanting to know something to buy me for xmas.
 
Depends on what you use your pc for tbh.

A64 3200+ is still a pretty good CPU in terms of gaming plus you can always oc it. But of course a free upgrade to X2 won't hurt :p and will probably last longer until K8L chips show up.

Mind you though 939 X2 is becoming very rare on e-tailer and some of the prices are ridiculous these days.
