I have a E6300, P5W DH and Geil PC2-6400 Cas4

If i turn on SPD, set FSB to 400, (memory 1:1), everything works fine, BUT the SPD sets the timings to 5-6-6-18 or something stupid

If i set the FSB to 300, and memory running at 3:4 (so 800mhz), then manually set the timings to 4-4-4-12, its fine.

Even if i set the FSB to 366, set memory to 3:4, (so 950mhz ish), it still works fine at 5-5-5-15

Heres the problem:

I set the FSB to 400, memory 1:1, then timings to 4-4-4-12, it doesnt boot, even though the Geil is rated at this and I've already found out that the cpu can manage 2.8ghz.

Doesn't even boot with timings at 5-5-5-15.

Can someone help me plz? :(

I think your chipset doesnt like manual timings on overclocks. Don't really know enough about the problem to offer a solution, maybe one of the vets could.

to the op, just be lucky you aint got an asus 975 chipset motherboard
you wouldn't reach 360fsb with manual timings with this geil :D

450mhz from 400mhz is good since they aint micron memory.

Cool thanks

I've been reading around and the problem seems to be the northbridge.

At the moment I've settled for 370fsb, 4:5 (so 925mhz) and its running happily at 4-4-4-15, 2.1v, will do 4-4-4-12 at 2.2v but i dont think its that much difference.

Hope someone else can help me :( otherwise i think ill have to settle with a 2.6 ghz E6300 or get a E6400/E6600 to break 3ghz

/edit and in answer to the above posters, the RAM has been on 2.1v all this time, since thats what it reccommended, tried 2.2, didnt make a difference, so i lowered it back to 2.1
