So lets just say its been a week or two since i overclocked Ram and now i find myself trying to decide which memory i should get for an upcoming build
The build will be one of the new i7 9900k's with one of the new Z390 boards and i will be looking to have 16GB of memory installed.
I plan to overclock the cpu and i have no idea if ram timings or ram speed are more important for the intel processors.
Does anyone know what ram i would be best trying to buy for the system

I'd recommend between 3400 and 3600MHz for best plug and play compatibility, although memory support has improved. Anything below 4000MHz should be fairly easy to tame. Beyond this, memory rules and timings become fairly lax unless dialing in things manually.

Sorry I missed your reply at the time.
Thank you for your help / guidance :)

From all the Z370 memory benchmarks I've seen, for gaming and general usage anything over 3200Mhz is overkill. Actually, even 2666Mhz gave good results within a few percent of even 4000Mhz+ so if I were you I would save your money and put it towards a bigger SSD etc
