Hello all!
HELP!!

Just built my first rig (as below), started oc'ing, everything all well and good.

XFX launched their p04 for 790i bois today, so me being eager to push my system a bit more, promptly downloaded it and attemped to flash the bios using nvidia's control panel bios flash thingy as the bios was only available as a *.bin

anyway this encountered an unkown error...
Everything was fine, used as normal for 2hrs after attempting this.
then rebooted...

Nothing...
system powers up, fans spin, but mobo doesnt even attempt to POST, just sits there:( the onboard readout just shows FF (=ok???) and doesnt run through the POST values as it should.

So i've tried using the jumper, removing the CMOS battery, and have removed all unnessacery hardware, and have attempted to flash back to p03 using the iso on a cd but nothing:(

I've put in a ticket with xfx but thought i'd see if there is anyone here who could save my new toy..please

Rig is..

intel q6600, xfx 790i ultra mobo, 2x2GB ocz ddr3 1333mhz cas7
2x 320GB WD single platters in RAID 0, 3x XFX 8800gtx's in SLI
BluRay drive, DVD drive. Coolermaster 1000w modular psu
zalman 9700LED cooler. all in a cosmos S case.

as i said i've taken it back to basics while i'm solving this so currently:

cpu, mobo, 1x gtx, 1x512mb low voltage crucial ddr3 module, no hdds, one dvdrw and psu

Any suggestions??

thanks in advance

Oh and on a tangent, the reason i was trying this bios, is that i seem to have hit a wall with my overclock.
the memory i've got to 1600mhz fsb at cas9 at 1.9v
but the cpu (even with mem at stock) i cant push past 1400mhz = 350mhz x9 = 3.15GHz
vcore=1.4v load temps: 55,55,47,47

even if i take the fsb to 1401mhz the system hangs before posting and bios needs jumping:mad: thought there might be a 'fsb hole' but have tried loads of combinations up to 3.6ghz with no sucess, i was hoping p04 would fix this...

Welcome to the forums, and have u tried taking the battery out overnight? The mobo will need enough time to completely discharge. Other than that, I'd say the BIOS flash has borked it beyond anything you or I can do about it, so RMA it.

You say it doesn't post, yet the LED display "FF" which indicates a successful boot. DO you get any bleeps? Are you sure its not simply a loose monitor lead or GPU?

Cheers, will try that tonight, though i fear the latter:(
will see what XFX say if no one here has any other suggestions.

with regards to RMA'ing do i require the original packaging and all acc's etc? because i'm now back at uni and the box+accs are on the otherside of the country!! along with antistatic bags etc, system has been stable for 3 weeks and i'm only here for 8 so i didnt bring them!

i thought that intially, as yes FF =all is well
But on a normal POST the onboard display runs through about 30odd codes checking Memory, power etc, and iff anything fails it pauses at that code and bleeps in the most annoying manner lol.

i've just checked again: normally with no ram in the slot it'd stop at F6 and bleep like mad, but nowt, just FF
