I have a Dell Ultrasharp SP2008WFP 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor with a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) graphics card.

The auto detect is picking up the input as Digital but it has always picked it up as analogue (I am using the serial white cable). When I power the monitor on the screen that the card is outputting shows for about 1/2 a second the the auto detect detects a digital signal and then there is no output on the screen.

I have tried pressing the input select button but this does not seem to have any effect.

Thanks pretty urgent problem.

Isn't the white socket'd cable a DVI cable?

If it is then surely it would be digital?

Also, only asking, with a modern monitor and gpu combo like that is there any reason why you're wanting to use an inferior analogue signal?
