HELP MS office wied text..

Hi

so i was doing a document on my laptop using MS "open office" ie MS word.

I then saved the file on USB and then at home opened it via MS word.

Before i tried to open the text document it said "file conversion poped up" not sure why but i went for defualt and still it wied.

All i get is a wied text /characters example

mimetypeapplication/vnd.oasis.opendocument.textPK ‚œ%> Configurations2/statusbar/PK ‚œ%> ' Configurations2/accelerator/current.xml PK PK ‚œ%> Configurations2/floater/PK ‚œ%> Configurations2/popupmenu/PK ‚

As you see clearly not what i wanted.

any ideas?

Open office and microsoft office save as different formats, open office can be changed to save as *.doc format, try looking under options or similar then "save" options.
I would check which format you saved the file in when using "open office" ( possible .odt or similar ) which is not the same as "microsoft office" ( .doc or .docx), try opening the original file in open office and doing "save as " to save as word doc. Then try again in microsoft office.

that seems like the mistake i made as i rushed the save, any way then of fixing the issue at home on word?

or the only fix is to go back to laptop and resave it as a .doc

I think you are best going back to laptop and saving as doc in open office.

You could just download Open Office Writer seeing as it's free and won't affect Microsoft Office (unless you make it the default document viewer):
