My mum received and email this morning and despite years of me trying to teach her the dos and dont's of using the internet she clicked the link at the bottom of the email. The email was sent from [email protected] and the two links in the email are tinyurl.com links.

I'm running Avast virus scan now and i'll do malwarebytes afterwards but i'm not really sure how to be 100% sure her laptop is safe if the scans dont report anything.

Thanks

Clicking the link should be fine, its what she did on the webpage that the linked opened to that is important.

As above, these emails usually just takes you to a fake site where they ask for your Apple account details. Some even asking for card details. I would change her password just in case and see if she did enter any card details on the site.

If she didn't fill any details in great, if she did you'll need to change her apple id password.

For the piece of mind, adwcleaner, jrt, malwarebytes.
