help!- my 360 just made a horrid noise and killed oblivion!!

erm, i was just playing on oblivion and my 360 made the worst noise i've ever heard- it was like a screaching/banging and it only lasted about 2 seconds then it all went deathly silent.... the game then produced a 'cannot read disc' error so i ejected the tray only to find that the cd wasnt in the tray!!! it was jammed inside the machine! i managed to prize it out only to be faced with a completely ruined disc, great. also, i put it back into the machine (just to see what would happen) and a message appeared stating 'please put this disc into an xbox 360 to play it. furious. So i pressed the eject button and when the cd tray opened the disc was still spinning and wasnt even sitting in the tray! it shot out and skittled across the floor! i couldnt believe my eyes!

so what the hell do i have to do now and can i get a replacement game???

i know there are loads of posts about errors but i havnt read any that sound like whats happened to mine. any help would be much appreciated.

oh also, can i put another disc into it or will it just chew it???
 
sounds a bit dodgy mate.

I wouldn't put a game in it but i would suggest maybe testing it with a CDr or a blank DVD to see if its gonna make disks its staple diet.
 
My nephews 360 did the exact same thing. It would suck the disc back into the 360. Totally trashing his discs. He took his back to the game store he got it from and luckily they replaced everything.

I'd get it replaced, I wouldnt risk more discs.

i got mine from an online store, suppose thats going to mean a long wait, poor customer service, phat postage costs and a general bending over on a barrel for me. i honestly didnt believe all the bad press they've had. more fool me.

so whats the proceedure? who do i contact about a replacement? boots or ms? and what about the game?? furious!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Screenshotted the OP. Not sure why but it's one of the funniest things I've ever read, I've been sitting here reading it and laughing over and over for 5 minutes now :p

if I were you i'll take it back to the store and request for another 360.
 
thats pretty funny (although i can unsertand why your ******.

The bit about the disc flying out makes me imagine it decapitated his cat or something, now THAT would be a story :D
 
well i'm glad you're all so ammused!!! :p

i've since dared to put another game in and..... it worked fine. so what the hell is going on????????????? its making me really tense, everytime it makes a noise i think its going to eject the disc at my head. its like living with hellraiser for gods sake!!!!

what are my chances of getting another one??

Get your video camera ready... or use your mobile phone video camera. Record the action and put it on youtube. :D

or you can send it to those "you have been framed" show and make some money :D
