Hey all,

Went to go out in the car today and glow plug light flashing :( I started it and revs sat as 1200 - accelerator pedal had no effect on engine speed.

Borrowed vagcom and its accelerator position sensor 1/2 as the fault. What's strange though, is the fact that if you go to measuring blocks the accelerator pedal is feeding information from 0-100% to the Ecu just as you'd expect ?!

Any ideas guys before I attempt to get to work or a garage with 1200rpm of usable 'power'.

Car is a 2000 bora tdi 115

Thanks

Do you guys have that option where you can reset the accelator sensor?

Its like put into ignition 1 or 2, press down accelerator for 30 seconds then start the car, that type of thing?

Try that and also try resetting any adaptions for the pedal or engine with the engine off.

Do you have the full version of vag com? Try a throttle body alignment. What is the exact error code?

I think they're drive by wire which means it could be the stepper motor/servo that opens the butterfly on the throttle body if the TPS is giving full range of reporting

18047 accelerator position sensor 1/2 (g79/g185) implausible signal.
P1639 -35--10 intermittent

I don't think I can reset a stepper motor/ butterfly?

It's connected as I get a reading on vagcom '

Oh yea  Strange that vag com can read the value (if correct) yet the ecu can't read it. It must be in limp mode as the error code is intermittant. I would clear the code, drive straight to the a TPS/VW/Eurocarparts and get a replacement. Take your laptop with you should it happen again.

Any signs of water getting in down there?

its a diesel, there is no throttle

can you clear the code? sounds odd that the measuring block is giving you a plausible signal but its giving the code for intermitent implausible signal

in theory it should clear, drive normally and if the implausible signal arises again, return to limp mode

Foot to the floor ignition on and off.

Common problem on VAG cars, you will end up replacing throttle pedal.

So put my foot to the floor and cycle the ignition?? I don't intend to buy a throttle thing I intend to scrap the car, I've had enough of it now :(
