help! my computer is dead and I have a hiper PSU!!

So woke up this morning and pushed the power button on my computer and absolutely nothing happened.....it was off last nihgt so it's not like it blew up or anything overnight so don't know what is going on.

the power does not come on at all which leads me to believe my hiper is dead. It is about 15 months old (which fits its into the timescales for hipers to die?). Only thinh is though is that the red LED comes on when the power switch is flicked on the PSU.

My computer also makes a faint high pitched squeal when switched on which I think is coming from the PSU. So before I take it apart and try my PSU in another computer do you think this is the problem. unfortunately I do not have another PSU that can go into mine but no power = bad PSU is what i'm thinking?

Thanks in advance to anyone thatc an offer advice.

Sounds like it, but don't try and turn it on again, you may cause problems to the other components.

You need to try another PSU.

High pitched squeal=yet another dead Hiper.

Try another psu if possible but that will be what the problem is.

too late i've turned it on a few times. I do not have another PSU i can try in my computer so I will need to buy a new one.

i thought I was one of the lucky ones to have escaped. my 8800 GTS prob put too much strain on it! they should be compensating evryone that has had one die. how long is the warranty - i'm guessing 1 year?

so recommendations for a new PSU - might as well start in this thread

right wll just plugged it into a different comp and it is dead!!

I don't think 520W will quite cut it but am assuming the corsair ones are one of the best makes on the market just now?

Is the hiper a modular or non-modular that died? Ive read of a lot of modulars dying but haven't seen much talk of non-modulars dying.

unlucky btw, I hope you get it sorted and it all works ok when you get a new psu.

just had a very similar thing happen to me Tagan psu about the same age. Stuck in a different psu and alls fine.
