I feel sorry for our dad. The only game he likes to play is Battlefield 2 and becuase ive moved, he doesnt have a good enough computer to play it...

Does anyone know the cheapest components that my dad could get to play it?

Hes tried playing it on his current setup but its just not upto the job...here his is pc atm...

Athlon 2000+
640mb RAM
Geforce FX5500 (maybe even AGP)
ASUS A7N266-VM

So anyone help me out?

Cheapest if possible? (im looking at *** OCuK B-Grade stock even....)

Should be able to upgrade the cpu, and gpu and get it running ok (even on agp).

You need to look up what that motherboard can handle cpu wise, then decide what gpu would work with that.

You probs where thinking of something cheaper.
But a decent system for BF2, you could drop to the MSI P31 board, but personally im not a fan of MSI stuff.
And obviously you can use old computer parts.

Wouldn't you best bet be looking 2nd hand? I am sure there must be loads of respectable gaming rigs being sold with people upgrading...

second hand old parts is best way, new components are a waste for 1 game.

a old radeon 9800 pro or something similar will play bf2 fine, in fact go for a 6800gt.

a amd xp 3200 and 1 GB of 400 ddr ( pc 3200 ) will be great also.

check out MM as there are old parts selling all the time .

any amd ddr mobo will do too, something like a kt600 will be great.

if your lucky you could get all this for under 150 quid

I agree with going for second hand, you can get some real bargains. I have a 7800gt at the moment and can play it on max graphics with P4 3.4ghz.

The game isn't too demanding and as you have monitor / peripherals you could get something for dirt cheap.

Like dogoid said, 3200 Barton would be good. Just be sure the Mobo takes Barton cores, and DDR400.

You could pick up an X800 or 6800 for less than £30 now, so they're worth a look.
