Help - my files are stuck on my 2nd HDD!

I think I've inadvertently protected my 2nd HDD. I'd like to move the files off and onto an external HDD.

Here's the message I'm getting: "Cannot copy filename1: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use."

Is there an easy way to unprotect the disk please?

Update: I've managed to move some of the files/folders. Others, however, are still protected. When I try to adjust permissions I get "Windows cannot calculate the effective permissions for..."

Any ideas please?

Thanks but disabling "read only" doesn't seem to help
