Hi

I'm trying to install my arctic freezer 7 pro on my Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3P. I thought I had fitted the heat sink OK but now I'm not so sure.

When I try fitting the fan to the heatsink it catches on the big copper silentpipe cooler to the left.

When i did this the silentpipe cooler actually lifted up the square cooper block that is sitting on the north bridge or whatever it is. It has gone back down now and seems snug - will that be OK?

I don't know what to do and I'm scared I'm going to bugger it up. Please post advice. the copper fins and the freezer fins are really close together and when the black fan is put on top, it pushes against the copper heatpipe forcing the block at the bottom to raise up.

How do I post a picture?

Any one live in Telford that could help?

thanks

Pete

To post a pic, upload the pic to imageshack, or some other hosting (Maybe you got some free with your ISP). Then enclose the url to the picture with tags.

i.e.

To be quite honest, it looks fine, it looks as though the heatpipes are bent slightly, but the seating looks ok. Is th AF7 on the correct way round, and the fan pushing air through the heatsink to expel air toward the rear of the case?

the fan will be on the opposite side of the heatsink to the IO backplate which I assume will blow through the heatsink toward the back of the case. Is that right?

I think I may have moved the heatpipe enough to clip the fan on without making the copper block lift off the north bridge but it may be moving up a tiny fraction and I can't tell but looks OK.

The copper block did lift off the north bridge at one end at least a mil or 2 is that ok? It looks like it is attached to the motherboard with some sort of spring loaded mechanism that pulls the copper block and heatpipe down on to it. Will that be ok?

Can I tighten it? Should I tighten it? I can only get to one of the screws on the siletpipe

thanks

She breathes! She Breathes! :)

the cpu temp started about 27degrees and has gone up to 34degrees
the system temp is 38degrees
cpu fan speed 556

does that sound about right?

What should a good idle cpu temp be?

I am in a warm room. no drives connected to yet. The side of the case is off. the only case fan in action is in line with the arctic freezer 7 pro and is pushing air out of the back of the case.

Temp has been gradually climbing and may go higher.

Can I check the northbridge temp in the bios?

Thanks

Pete

Temps are about right for idle, you will need to check at full load really, Your
fan speed should increase as the CPU temp starts to rise.
