!!HELP!! ASUS P5W came back from RMA and reported at "no fault"

the problem was that it didnt do anything, the beeper wouldnt sound no matter what was missing.

i tried everthing like switching one ram over, tried a non c2d processor with both bioses.

im stuck, i tried all the hardware as well but with no luck :(

thanks

I was forced to get a new one as the old one didnt have a 24pin.

i got a FSP blue storm. is there anyway of testing this hardware though..

OK,.on the 24pin there is one socket which doesnt have a wire coming from it. its the side closer to the hook and is the 5th from the side (including the 4pins)

is that supposed to be NC?

UPDATE; checked all pins from the PSU and they are all working fine with the right current.

I've once seen this type of thing. Try running your mobo without screwing it into a case. The last time I saw this we've accidentally scratched the motherboard, meaning it was putting power down one of the support screws and making the case slightly live. We re-installed it with plastic 'feet' instead of screws.

(The RMA company probably ran it sat on a test bench, not in a case so could have missed this).

iv ran this ont he table so many times before i sent it off. it was just the same result.
i tested the graphics card on another PC and it worked find so i know its not that.

now im looking at the CPU and my bios. the bios was sent to me from asus and it has no revision sticker, just "winbond" printed.

Iv emailed rizwan to send me another but dont know if he will understand with his english skills.

Im sure there was someone whos got a extra bios on this forum. if thats you can you please email me if you dont want it. i will paypal the money for postage and however much you want for it.

im really desperate, thanks
