Hi all, My pc has just stopped working for some reason. Ive tested HD, graphics card and ram and they all seem to be fine so i think its my micro atx motherboard.

I'd like to patch it up and carry on using as many of the components for a while longer, until i finish uni when i can have a complete upgrade.

Ive seen the ASRock K7S41GX Socket A SIS741GX AGP motherboard online, does anyone know how well this performs?

Would it be worth trying to upgrade this system at all or just get a suitable motherboard to tide me over??? Any suggestions?

Might be worth search for a second hand Socket A motherboard, possibly a direct replacement for what you have at the moment.

Also, when you say it had died, does anything happen when you boot? LEDs, fans, motherboard beeps?

yea fans spin up etc etc but just doesnt post a thing on screen... thought it was graphics to start with but def not as have tested in other computers and it works fine.

Intersting u say that cos had to change the PSU once before.... im not sure bout hd activity. I havnt tested it i a while as am away from home at the moment.

How would i go about testing if its mb or PSU other than putting up money to buy new parts and test if that works?!!

Another one, theres been at least 4 guys making threads this week with this problem, me being one of them.

Ive had my pc in bits all over the floor nothing works. So far ive changed graphics, then memory. Ive just tested two different motherboards. Just the same, fans spin up, theres power going in, my cd drive even tries to load, but stays loading over and over. Monitor doesnt turn on. Its just stuck.

I have a new PSU coming tomorrow, i think these are a PSU related problem i will let you all know tomorrow morning if i have any luck with a new PSU.

I dont know about testing mb or psu without putting in a spare :(

Ive also got a problem with my machine coming on lights flashing but a black screen and NO post beeps i had made a thread about 1 hour ago but it seems to have vansihed it was with all spanking new hardware (see sig below) and im getting no help at all from anyone anywhere im on my 2nd power supply and my motherboard warrenty is void as i have no llg775 socket protector even though its only 6 month old what a joke.
Ive gone to the lengths of removing every bit of hardware so its just the processor in the board and it still wont beep at me to say plug in some hardware ya noob lights are on fans are spinning and no joy.

Ahhhh, hope i dont get the same thing. Would mean this is a Dead CPU thing then.

Would be a reason to go dual core i suppose :p

Damn you edited too fast !

I dont know, maybe. But with me i get same problem bit theres no signes of psu blowing, no burning no nothing. Just turned it on and it said FO, I AINT WORKING NEMORE.

Although i remember my Motherboard manufacturer saying that it sounded like a faulty Power Supply or Processor in there reply to my issue so perhaps its my processor that fried?

Well all i have to say on that matter is FFS lol one thing after another they just dont make stuff like they used to.

If it turns out mine is down to the cpu, i wont be too fussed, apart from sending back three things and loosing out on postage, all id have lost is a 20-30£ cpu, so will just go for a dual core 3800x2, there only £66 now :)
