Hi, Bascially my PC freezes under the right conditions, I mean completely, freezes, no BSOD, no restart, it just becomes unresponsive, with the last screen showing on my monitor.

It happens under heaving internet use, wheth that be d/l via torrents or by using flashget download manager.

My network card is a wireless job, a cheap one at that. Do you think that'll be the problem? I've updates all the drivers, and have reformatted my PC twice to make sure it's not viruses. I just have no idea what is causing it.

Do you lot know of any way that I can check what had been causing it to freeze? Thanks.

Hi,

You could remove the wireless card and connect via cable to see if it is the card.

If it is then move the transmitter and receivers abit and check they are in. properly!

Hope this helps and let me know how you get on ;)

Yeah, it doesn't freeze via wired ethernet. Just wireless. I'm going to replace the card and see how it goes.

Not if you install some trunking :D

The best way of finding out the specific cause of a hang you should use the Event Viewer.

Assuming it is XP you are using go to Start>Run and enter eventvwr and hit Enter.

In the window that opens in the left pane click on "System" and there should be a warning or caution entry for around the time your machine hanged. Double-click on the entry and it should give you enough info to work out what has happened.

Just had a thought, i bought a card once for a tenner and it was rubbish but there was a good one i bought online for 18 quid. Il take a look and get back to you. Anyway if your gaming it has to be wired m8!
