help my steering is making a creaking noise

Yeah you're not generally supposed to do it while the car is stationery mate... Sounds like a belt though

There is a fairly well known early Mk3 problem which causes creaking steering, usually towards full lock. The steering column needs greasing and possibly some adjustment. The wrong type of grease was used at the factory and it dries out and needs replacing. The spacing on the column can also be adjusted. There is a TSB for this - I'll post it on Sunday night for you when I'm at home.

However, whilst it's difficult to tell from the video that sounds to me like the PAS pump is on it's way out or rack is totally worn out. Could also be a CV joint on its way out.

I got a very similar noise from my steering a while back. It started happening when i hadn't used it for a day or 2 then went away after driving for a bit. I've not heard it since so whatever it was must have sorted its self hopefully.

i dont think it's the steering, it makes that noise all the time now even under braking

i'm sick of this car now i think i'm gonna buy a 08 corsa on finance, makes more sense tbh

About as much sense sticking your head in a bucket of crap.

Anyway, check your PAS fluid for a start - but creaks like that tend to be related to the struts. Take it to any garage, they'll be able to pinpoint it for you.

yeh i was gonna take it to my local but he's closed today:(

pas fluid is fine i changed it when i got the car

I really think you should just buy a pushbike and leave cars alone mate...
P.S. Haven't watched the vid at all, but creaking steering could possibly be a seized strut top mount or a buggered bottom balljoint.
