Ok, had my iPhone and iTunes installed on my works notebook for the last 2-3 months. All has been well (eventhough I don't really rate ITunes layout etc) but I'm in a little pickle at the minute and not sure what to do. I'm about to transition onto a new notebook, so I've installed the latest iTunes onto it, transfered all my MP3's and hooked up my iPhone to sync it all up.
But, after the initial log in to iTunes, I see all my albums that I have in my Music folder and on my Iphone but within iTunes, it looks like each track on each album as doubled up......eek
I still have access to my old working iTunes where things are fine and not doubled up, so I was wondering if someone could walk me through the process of transfering iTunes from one computer to another.

Cheers in advance

All I do is transfer my 'My Music' folder which also contains the iTunes folder (all the bits where iTunes stores its crap) and just point iTunes at the 'My Music' folder and tell it to let Windows manage my music!.

It automaticaly pics up the old library (stored in the iTunes folder) so no need to re-scan the folder!.. if you do you get multiple copies of each track!..

Its worked for me that way on the 4 occasions I've had to re-build my computer in the last 6 months!.

Yes, as you can only authorise 5 machines at a time to play your purchased drm music.

Is the doubling up something to do with having - copy music to itunes library - selected in preferences so you get two copies of every song?

No, that is unticked in the preferences.

One thing to note that each double track has a exclamation mark next to it.

WAs wondering if this thread can be moved to the Apple software section in the forums.

Hmmm, ok, would someone be able isntead, to talk me through the best way to migrate my iTunes from one PC to another. Just not sure what I backup itunes wise i.e settings file, and what I have to do in order to get it all working on my new computer.
