Help!!! Need to choose which cpu to keep??? C2D or QCD???

Hi, Its been a while since ive posted and my Rig has changed a few times since my last Post, LOL!!! The Miss's has just got pregnant

so im gonna have to sell most of me office (to make a room for baby!!!) , and reduce from 2 PC's to 1.

Now this is where the title comes in, i like overclocking and have always enjoyed it,

so which would be a better alround CPU? :confused:

The system is used mainly for encoding dvd's e.t.c Playing games and general web browsing?

1- E8400 Co stable @ 4.4ghz 1.47v

2- Q6600 G0 @3.89ghz 1.55v

Both Preform Well and they both have Weakness/Strong points. Raw Power or blistering Mhz's????

???? Other specs are 2 x 280gtx's sli, EVGA 780i, 8gb OCZ 1066mhz, Dell 24". Custom H2o. ??? would be intrested to hear other peoples thaughts.

in my oppinion the quad would be the one to keep becuase for your stated usage it will be better.

also more future proof if there is such a thing in this game, with a little nipper on the way you never know when youll get the chance to upgrade next....

Thanks for ** ideas, ive been trying to make me mind up for the last two weeks. and for some reason the e8400 encodes faster than the quad, i think it might be the cpu speed producing more frames.

maybe your encodeing software is only using 2 cores/threads.

As above the Quad will provide more future proofing especially if you don't think you'll be able to ugrade for a while.

However i like the sound of 4.4Ghz

- makes me all fuzzy inside... hmmmm speed

yes it is nice, mmm 4.4ghz, i have booted inton windows at 4.7ghz but not stable enough to run 3dmark :mad:

i dont know!!! so hard todecide!!!!! :confused:

For encoding id recommend the quad

but the idea of a e8400 @ 4.4 GHz does sound real nice
