As the title says, I'm really struggling/finding it impossible to get hold of a hard copy of Arma X for a birthday gift.

I know i can get it digitally but my cousins internet connection is PAINFULLY slow when downloading large amounts of data, on his xbox at least.

would like him to only need to download the DayZ mod and not a lot else as he's young, impatient and stroppy... typical teenager eh.

any pointers/links would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Why not download it for him and then gift him a digital copy?

You can then copy the steam files on to his PC and it'll activate with the copy you've gifted him without him having to download it, you could download the Day Z mod for him too.

I have no idea how i would do that though as i already have copies of both on my machine, would they not overwrite/conflict??

worked out £2 cheaper to buy arma x at christmas time, was only £18 digital download thats why i was after that really :)

Nope, you could just copy your own installs on to a USB drive and drop it in his Steam folder.

I do this across my own network when I'm having LAN games but only one PC has the game installed, I'll copy the Steam files from my PC over the network on to the other PC, and then whoever's playing on the other PC will log in to their Steam account and the game will be instantly playable, rather than them logging in and downloading it on the other computer.

Easiest way to get game installs if you're local, unless your internet is faster than USB3 lol :D
The only waiting you have to do is waiting for Steam to "unpack" the game files, takes about 2-3 mins depending on game.

Steam > steamapps > common

Copy your game folder from there, and place into the same location on whoevers drive, providing they own the game click download on Steam it will see the files and unpack from there.
