Think this is going to be a long shot, but any help would be appreciated.

A while ago, I bought my wife the 4 "singing mouse" toys out of Bagpuss. Basically you squeeze them and it activates a circuit playing a recording. They are very, very cute.

Over Christmas, my 2 year old nephew came to visit, and played with them until their batteries ran down. There is no official way of replacing the batteries. I'm trying to get replacement toys, but no-one seems to stock them and the prices on e-Bay seem to be going skywards. I can probably get some 2nd hand (at a fairly high price), but obviously they won't be new and who knows how long the batteries wil last.

Does anyone have any idea how feasible it is to change the batteries on one of these things? We've had a go at opening one of them up, but the "sound module" seems pretty large so it would be hard to do it without causing a lot of damage. It didn't seem worth it without some idea of feasibility.

Alternatively, is it possible to get some kind of sound/voice module that might work as a replacement? We'd record the original sounds (we have the DVD and 1 mouse is still working), I've found various ones designed for toys and greeting cards, but they only hold 10 seconds. I've also found a recorder module that holds 60 seconds, but it's not designed for toys and it's a bit large. It's probably looking like the best bet though.

Oh, and if anyone knows of a source for the mice, that would obviously be another option.

Thanks.
