Help!!!! Need your thoughts - Problem

Folks I need your thoughts.

I have just received a new case and psu (the Antec NSK 4480 ).

I have put in:
amd 4000 S939, (Spare part)
gigabyte K8N Pro Sli, (spare)
3Gb Ram 3200 (spare)
6200LE. (bought cheap just to power the simple stuff)

This is for a machine for my old dears before you laugh

Right I have built everything plugged it in hit the power switch and.................

Nothing.

Have tried the power switch on the mobo and everything is correct.

However if I just rest the 24 pin connector in place on the mobo, ithe cpu fan and case fan spin, the dvd drive opens and closes but thats it, it doesn't boot, cuz obviously it isnt actually turned on. So there is obviously power from the psu.

But when I push the connector in all power dies and I can't turn it on at all, the fans stop spinning etc and it just sits lifelessly.

My thoughts are that it is the mobo, but I may be wrong.

What are your thoughts? before I go out and by a cheap mobo for them, any ideas?

I have built many a machine and this is the first that has refused to boot.

dogey board? try putting together out of case and make sure nothing is shorting out do u have another psu u can try

Can you try one stick of RAM, CPU, GPU and one hard disc only.
If that fails try removing the motherboard and test it outside the case, just in case there is short.

Right took it apart and it booted outside the case with one stick of ram and the HD.

So put it back in, still worked.

Built it back bit by bit powering up and down and it's a dodgy stick of ram. So it now has 2Gb and I have binned one of those sticks

Phew!!
