Hi all

I have a ASUS Z270e Motherboard which is on the whole working fine

The only issue I have is that the CPU fan speed is not shown in the Bios or when using fan control software like FanControl or FanSpeed

Oddly the Bios does not show any errors (NO CPU Fan) on boot and if I use the Fan control software to manually adjust the fan speed I can hear that the speed does actually adjust, just no indication of its RPM.

I at first thought it might be the fan on the CPU as its using the stock Intel box cooler ( I know I know) so today I fitted a new Cooler Master 212 fan and heatsink, but that made no difference.

Like I say its not affecting the running of the PC just annoying my OSD as the why its speed is not being detected or shown in the Bios etc.

Anyone got any thought s as to what the problem might be.

Thanks for any help with this.

Clear the cmos
Or check for bios updates

Actually got an Asus z270-e in a half disassembled pc here
So though I might not know exactly why
It's doing
I can confirm the z270-e I have doesn't do it
Mine worked fine in both bios
And in software
Another option would be to connect the cpu fan
To a different header
Then in bios tell it to ignore monitoring the cpu header

Thanks

I did update the bios to the latest available v1501, although that does say its a Beta but its not been updated since 2021 so doubt anything else will be done with it. Might it be better to go down to the none Beta v1302 from 2018.

Thanks

Paul

Yeah might be worth going back
A couple of bios versions
Just to see what happens out of curiosity
No idea what versions on mine as sold the cpu and ram
So it's not bootable now
But pretty sure it worked correctly on all the bios versions
That I tried on it

I just tried 1302 and that made no difference.

I think tomorrow I will strip it back to just enough to boot into Bios and then see if the speed is detected when the CPU fan is the only peripheral connect, then try it in some of the other fan headers. To see if speed is detected on those.
