Help needed, confused over 120hz and laptops

Hi,

I'm running an nvidia 580GTXm gpu and was looking to buy a benq XL2411T but after some research I'm not sure I'd be able to use the full refresh rate.

Can anyone please advise?

As far as I know you'd need DVI dual link to support 120hz+.

You will need either dual link DVI output or a proper displayport connector (not an adaptor from HDMI/DVI) and a monitor that supports one or both of those connections.

Another thing I found - the displayport on most laptops that have it seems even more sensitive to cable length and quality than desktop GPUs - on many of them anything beyond ~1.8-2meters won't be able to drive 120Hz.
